3 arrivare a capire; scoprire: What I'm trying to get at is whether he really means what he says, quello che tento di scoprire è se dice proprio sul serio

4 mettere mano a, mettersi a fare, affrontare, intraprendere (un lavoro, ecc.)

5 mettersi a (fare qc.)

6 (fam.) arrivare a (fig.); voler dire; sottintendere: What are you getting at?, dove vuoi arrivare?; che cosa vorresti dire (con ciò)?

7 (fam.) dare addosso a (q.); criticare; punzecchiare: You should stop getting at your wife, devi smetterla di dare addosso a tua moglie; Stop getting at me to do my homework!, smettila d'insistere per farmi fare i compiti!
